Hair Extensions vary depending on the length, colour, amount, method and brand. All of which, we won't know until you come in for your consultation at the salon. We do It this way so that we can offer you the best price for extensions based on what you need not a 'one size fits all' type of price!
The key to having healthy and damage free hair when having extensions is making sure they are applied, removed and cared for correctly.
If they are not fitted correctly or not removed correctly this can cause damage, this is why it is so important to do your research when looking for a hair stylist.
Aftercare plays a huge part when it comes your extensions too. It is so important that you take note of what your hair stylist tells your to use on your hair at home and how to care for your extensions. You need to make sure your refits are booked in on time to ensure we can rotate your extensions properly ensuring your natural hair is being cared for.
Please arrive to your consultation with clean & straight hair. This will enable us to colour match you correctly if you are in for an extensions consultation. It is also important that if you are coming just for an extensions consultation and have had your colour done elsewhere you arrive with the hair colour you would like us to match you up with.
If you are having your hair coloured by us also, you don't need to worry about this as we will be colouring it for you anyway!
We recommend refitting Micro & Nano bonds every 10/12 weeks. Flat tip bonds will last you 3-5 months until they need to be replaced and then you will need a new set. We recommend that you get your weave refit every 8-10 weeks with a tightening around 4-6 weeks.
We recommend using the Beauty Works aftercare range on your new extensions. The hair is tried and tested on the extensions therefor we know that they are suitable and will help your extensions to last. If you have the nano bonds, micro bonds or flat tip bonds you will need the sulphate free shampoo. If you have the weave you will need the Beauty Works original shampoo.
Personally, I never recommend getting a new set of extensions to go on holiday with. The UV rays from the sun are a lot harsher abroad which can cause heat damage or colour discolouration. If you do go on holiday or go near chlorine/salt water we strongly advise you do not get your hair wet. Chlorine can turn your blond extensions especially a salmon'y colour which is almost impossible to get rid of.
Another big thing to watch out for on holiday is sun lotion, most sun creams will tint your hair so it is so important again to be careful of this, especially spray/mist creams. If you are applying sun lotion tie your hair up and pop a shower cap on your extensions whilst applying.
We do not advise using the sunbeds with your extensions, if you do use sunbeds we advise putting a shower cap on to protect your hair from the uv rays again. Beware of any tanning lotions as they can also tint your blonde extensions.
Micro bonds, nano bonds and the weave can last up to 12 months with excellent fitting, maintenance appointments and aftercare however I personally always advise blonde clients to expect around 9 months as lighter hair tends to not last as long sometimes as it is coloured. These methods are reusable.
Flat tip bonds last around 3-5 months until you will need them replacing, after this you will have to have a brand new set as they are not reusable.
If they are applied correctly, no. I often hear people say they have had a very sore head after having extensions fitted however none of my clients have ever said this and all say that when its your first time of having them it isn't that they hurt or ache, you are just more aware that they are there as youre not used to them. If your extensions 'hurt' then they have not been applied correctly and you could have cross hairs causing tension.
That is my job, I will help you! During your consultation I will go through with you how you where your hair on a day to day basis etc and this will help me to decipher which method is going to suit your lifestyle best.
If you have never had extensions before I would never expect you to have made a set in stone decision on a method so do not worry, thats what a consultation is for!
I have a few clients who often order their hair separately through Beauty Works. Once you have had your consultation I can write down exactly what you need to order (or do it with you there and then if you would feel more comfortable!), you can then order the hair yourself through the Beauty Works website and choose their 'Buy Now Pay Later option and pay your hair off monthly. That way the only thing you have to pay is your fitting fee to me! This brings the cost down on the day quite considerably!
When I fit hair extensions I always leave at least 1 inch all around the perimeter of the head. This is so that if you tie your hair up your extensions are super discreet. Obviously everyones hair line is completely different however we always make sure your extensions are discreet.
No, not at all! We can colour your hair and then colour match after if you would like to do this or if you already like your hair colour and don't want to change it that is absolutely fine! We will just choose a colour from our 50+ swatches to match your hair!
Yes! If you normally have foils, we can foil around your hair line and on your parting whilst your extensions are in. If you normally have an all over colour and just need your roots touching up we can also do this for you!
It is important though that this is done professionally and only by the person who has fitted the extensions for you.
I always recommend going to bed with a plait, nothing fancy! Just a simple plait. If you cant plait, then a low pony tail will do just fine! This helps to stop any matting of your hair and extensions when asleep!
I recommend using a silky scrunchie when tieing your hair back, they are super soft on your extensions.
I recommend after washing your hair using a soft bristle brush to get all of the tangles out of your hair, you could even spray some of the beauty works 10-in-1 spray through the mid lengths and ends.
Once you have done this you can let your hair air dry for about 10 mins to get any excess water out. but then it is essential that you fully dry your extensions roots to ends after. This makes sure there will be no matting or tangles.
A fitting can take anything from 1 hour to 2.5 hours depending on the method and amount you are having in.
Micro & Nano bond refits can take anything from 1.5 hours to 3.5 hours, again depending on how many bonds you have.
Weaves take roughly 1 hour to 1.5 hours to fit and 1 hour to refit.
When coming for your extensions refit you need to come with clean, straight hair. We recommend washing your hair either the night before or the morning of your appointment with shampoo and a small amount of conditioner through the mid lengths and ends.
If you turn arrive to your appointment with oily or greasy hair we may have to add a blow-dry on to your appointment at an added cost to you. If this happens and we do not have the time for a blow dry you may asked to rebook.
We cannot refit extensions when your natural hair is oily/greasy as the bonds will slide.
